Current MLS Listings for Barrington
Henrico County (Zone 22)
Barrington, located off Church Road in the heart of the West End, was developed as a truly unique and upscale neighborhood in the 1990’s. The homes, especially those in the initial sections, are quite varied in their architectural stylings with traditional and contemporary influences, and home sizes well over 5,000 SF. Several homes along Barrington Bridge Court back up to a small lake adding to the luxurious feel of the neighborhood.
The neighborhood of Barrington (proper) joins with Barrington Valley and exits onto Three Chopt Road near the West Broad Village project and Pocahontas Middle School. The expansion of Three Chopt has affect some of the homes on the back side of the neighborhood, but the access to the amenities largely offsets the affects of development.
Barrington’s initial sections, as noted earlier, carried a high degree of variance and uniqueness that the later sections lack. As the neighborhood was developed, more and more builders bought the lots and speculatively built homes in lieu of owners buying the lots and then contracting with builders. While still impressive in both scale and quality, the speculative nature for the building meant fewer chances were taken than those first in.
One of Barrington’s greatest strengths is its proximity to the amenities of Henrico’s West End. Innsbrook is roughly 10 minutes away and both Short Pump Town Center and West Broad Village are quite close meaning the area’s largest office park and finest retail are practically neighbors. Also underpinned by the most highly decorated schools in Henrico, Barrington offers high marks on all fronts.
