Current MLS Listings for Edgehill
Chesterfield County (Zone 64)
Edgehill, located in northern Chesterfield County was originally developed in the late 1960’s and throughout the 1970’s. It is a relatively small community of mostly colonial styled homes on sizable lots near the intersection of Robious Road, Midlothian Turnpike and Old Bon Air Road.
In the early 1970’s, Richmond was just beginning the development momentum that pushed residential home building south of the James River along Route 60 towards the Town of Midlothian. Salisbury, located further west, and Woodmont, located along Huguenot Road, had enjoyed great success. The easy access to Henrico and the City across the Huguenot Bridge meant that the Bon Air area, located just across the Richmond/Chesterfield border was becoming increasingly popular. Neighborhoods like Edgehill, Greenfield, Woodmont and Brighton Green all helped fill the void for more affordable housing options than a comparable home in the Near West End of Henrico. With the completion of Monacan High School in 1979, the Bon Air/Midlothian region began to grow rapidly. When both James River High and Route 288 were completed in the late 1990’s, the entire northern Chesterfield region exploded and now much of the the most valuable housing in the region can be found along Robious Road.
Edgehill provides a surprisingly affordable option that is now considered extremely close in. Larger 4 and 5 bedroom homes of on wooded lots are the most common in Edgehill and still underpinned by some of the regions best public schools, the neighborhood is still quite popular for many buyers. With close proximity to much of Chesterfield’s best shopping nearby, Edgehill would also be considered a convenient place to live.
